Preschool

Children’s Village Montessori is a school for children ages 2 1/2 to 7.  Preschool and kindergarten students work side by side in the same classroom. The kindergartners are role models for the younger students and are given opportunities within the classroom to teach the younger children how to complete works that they have mastered.  Research shows that this is a valuable experience for both the kindergartner and the younger child.

This student is learning about quantity and symbol for the numbers 0-9 using the spindle boxes. The child places the appropriate number of spindle rods into the numbered slot. The concept of 0 as an empty set and the understanding that zero means 0/0 is introduced in the Spindle Boxes.
